Well, the dot.com belt tightening has finally caught up with us. We're sad to say that Volume 2, Number 13 is the last issue of Woody's Palm Watch, at least for the present. We've had fun bringing the ezine to you and hope we'll be able to do so again in the future, once Net advertising budgets expand a little more.

Ever since we started the Pocket PC section of Woody's Windows Watch, we've been deluged with requests for equal time for the Palm handhelds. Judging by all the buzz, both in the corporate world and in the press, it seems time to give the Palms in their many guises (Palm itself, Handspring, Sony etc) a thorough vetting. Ever mindful of the maxim "vox populi, vox dei" we're acting on those appeals: I'll take the role of populi, and y'all can be the dei. Fair 'nuff?

I'll lead with a bit of Palmistry from the newbies side: I love my Palm IIIc. I'll show you what I've learned, what I've stepped in, and how you can avoid my mistakes. Barry Simon, who's a long-time Palm-o-phile, will tackle the tough stuff, with a special emphasis on Palm software and add-ons. (Da games! Da games!) Our fearless leader, gearnut, and erstwhile Editor-in-Chief, Peter Deegan will tie it all together with news and commentary. All three of us - and a group of raconteurs, rebels, rabble-rousers and renegades who at this moment are rising from the Palm-bound masses - will bring to WPalmW the same careful and unbiased analysis that has made the Woody's Watches a feared legend in the Windows and Office communities.

Stand back, Palm. We're gunnin' fer ya.

Woody's Palm Watch will include all you need to get most from your pocket fiend... er, friend ...
  • Tips to do your Palm work faster.
  • How To's to get the most from your Palm.
  • Reviews of what's hot and what's not worth it in Palm software and hardware.
  • News from the fast moving world of the Palm OS.

  • As always, we promise to give you the straight scoop, as best we can, without the marketing jive or techy double-talk. You'll get no-bull answers to your toughest questions, and real insight that you can use in the trenches, even if we step on a few toes along the way. You wouldn't expect less from a Woody's Watch, wouldja?
